Direct Payments in Residential Care

If you are getting care home services supported by North Lincolnshire Council or have been told that you can get services we can help towards the cost. Up to now the council has paid its share of care costs directly to the home in which you live, but now there’s another way.

Giving you more choice, more control

Direct Payments in Residential Care give you more choice and control in how you live your life. They are available to everyone who lives in a care home.

We will talk to you and the care home to give you more choice about the support and service you want for example:

  • You may want to do new or different things in your life
  • Provide a link to your past

How will I be supported?

Your keyworker and case worker will:

  • talk to you
  • work out what support you want
  • who provides it
  • when it takes place
  • where it takes place.

You will get help to write down how to spend your direct payment and how to use the prepaid card.

You will be supported at every stage in getting and managing a direct payment.

Extra support will be offered to you to make sure that you can use the direct payment in the way you want.

Is this right for you?

If you are interested in taking part you don’t have to do this on your own.
To work out if a direct payment is right for you talk to your case worker or key worker in the home.

They will help you work out what is important to you and what you want from your life.

You can say no to direct payments at any time and continue to receive all your support from the care home.
